The
vegetables you will receive through Sunflower Fields Farm Shares and GROWN
Locally Food Basket are fresh, in-season, and picked the same day they
are delivered to your door. The vegetables are grown by natural methods,
without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. All
of the produce comes to you - after being chilled and washed - via our
refrigerated truck or another cooled delivery vehicle. You will receive
your produce in a waxed box that can be recycled back to us the following
week.
Shareholders
will receive a box of vegetables each week from late May until mid October.
We design our shares by estimating what different-sized families eat in
a week. That is, we aim to fill our smallest box with approximately the
amount of food a single person who eats most meals at home would use in
a week. That said, we know peoples appetites and schedules vary
widely. A single vegetable-loving person with a big appetite (like Michael,
for example) might eat a large share in a week. So please use our share
descriptions only as a guide for choosing the right share size for your
family.
Each
of the box sizes can be configured as a Standard Box or a
Greens Enhanced Box. The Standard Box is packed with a full
complement of non-leafy vegetables plus spinach and lettuce when available.
The Greens Enhanced Box is packed with lots of tasty green leafy items
as well as all the non-leafies. The price is the same and the boxes weigh
equal amounts.
