Add It! Farm Shares additional items programThere may be times during our growing season that, as a Sunflower Fields Farm Shares shareholder, youd like more of a certain item than you receive in your regular share. You might want a bushel of tomatoes to can, raspberries to freeze, or enough salad mix to feed everyone at your family reunion. Or you might just really like cucumbers and want a few extra every time we have some available. The Additional Items Program is designed to meet needs like these. Our goal is for you to be able to get fresh, first-quality, locally-raised foods on occasions when you need more than your farm share provides. The money you pay for these vegetables, in turn, goes toward our operational expendables: waxed boxes, produce bags, cleaning equipment, electricity for our walk-in cooler, etc. So by purchasing extra produce through the Additional Items Program, you help to strengthen your Farm Share system. How to Order Using the Add It! Program1.
You let us know the item(s) youd like, how much youd like,
and when youd like it/them. Ordering detailsYou can order additional items on the Add It! Order Form (click here to download or go to our Download Brochures and Information page) or at any time during the growing season by phone, e-mail, or postal mail. This year, you will be able to order your Add It! products on our new web site! You will see a list of what we currently have available and you can choose from this list. Or, before the season starts, you can request pre-season bulk orders or standing orders of your favorite products - e.g. an extra pound of lettuce mix every week its available - or a one-time pre-season order can be made as far in advance as youd like, and they can be made for an exact or flexible delivery date. For example, you could order a bushel of tomatoes to can, to be delivered any time during tomato season. Or you could order all the fixings for potato salad and coleslaw, to be delivered just before the third weekend in August. Your Sunflower Fields Farm Share newsletter will include a Whats Ripening section to tip you off as to what to expect, in which we will list the items that we anticipate having soon, in enough abundance to exceed the regular Share needs. After looking at this list, you may call us, e-mail us, or use our web site, and we will deliver your Additional Items order with your next Farm Share box. We will fill Add It! orders on a first reserved, first served basis, so the earlier you let us know what you need, the more likely it is that well be able to get it to you. Picking and PayingWe pick, wash, pack, and deliver the vegetables you ordered. In most cases, we will deliver your Add It! produce right along with your regular Farm Share box. To cover our labor and fuel, we charge you a We Pick per-unit price that is about 80% of wholesale. If you choose to come to the farm and pick your own first-quality additional items, we charge you a You Pick per-unit price that is about 50% of wholesale. You will receive a packing slip with each order, and you will receive a bill monthly for your Add It! items. This billing system allows us to avoid handling money on our delivery vehicles, and it saves you from needing to be home for deliveries. DINE Locally - Delicious, Informed, Nutritious Eating!DINE Locally, a program developed to enhance the use of your GROWN Locally foods, is included with every Farm Share and Food Basket membership. Connie Burns, a Registered Dietitian, will offer recipes, meal planning and other kinds of help in finding just the right way to use your produce. You will be able to contact her via our web site either on a public message board or through private e-mail with your questions, suggestions and recipes to share. In addition, Connie will write a monthly column in the newsletter covering many interesting and useful topics related to fresh foods and good nutrition. Each article will be followed by a demonstration of the techniques discussed in her articles at the GROWN Locally processing building at Sunflower Fields Farm and will be open to everyone. There are many ways to take advantage of this program. So, share your recipes, learn about new ones, see live demonstrations of how to best use your foods and ask all those burning questions you have about foods, diets, nutrition, kids, health, and other topics of interest to you and your family. Get informed, common sense answers from Connie and share with her your good ideas! DINE well! |
